During its four victories to earn the Nassau County Class A championship, the Floral Park Memorial girls’ varsity basketball team relied on some tremendous outside shooting.

But when the three-point shots failed to drop against Suffolk County Champion Islip, the Lady Knights turned up the defensive pressure and rebounding.

Floral Park’s impressive 62-53 victory at St. Joseph’s College earned the team a Long Island Championship as well as a trip to the New York State Final Four. Waiting for the girls in the semifinals will be Rye High School, the champ from Westchester County’s Section I.

It was another great all around effort by Floral Park. The game against Rye will be held on Friday, March 11 at 3:15 pm at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, N.Y.
