On Saturday, March 19th, Floral Park Memorial’s World Language Honor Society went to the Ronald McDonald House to cook breakfast for the families. Mr. Christianson and Mrs. Powers supervised a group of six students – Nicole Metrick, Nora Brennan, Sarah Chimera, Jocelyn Cottington, Emmanuel Betancourt and Tina Seuling, President of the World Language Honor Society.

According to the Ronald McDonald House website, the mission is to “give comfort and shelter to families experiencing the pain of having a sick child in local hospital facilities.”

The students were greeted with open arms by the staff and then received a tour around the newly renovated house. The group planned, shopped, prepared, and served food for 90 people. It was not only a heart-warming experience but it was also very rewarding to help the community. The Ronald McDonald House was extremely appreciative of the dedication of the Floral Park students. The staff expressed its gratitude. One of the volunteers, Judy, said, “It has nothing to do with food, but everything to do with your hearts.
