FPM’s varsity football coach, Mike Spina, was named Coach of the Week by the New York Jets organization.

According to the New York Jets’ staff writers, “The award, in its 18th year, is given to a coach in the tri-state area who serves the best interests of the game through the teaching of sound football fundamentals, the motivation of young players to achieve, and the promotion of youth football by way of dedication to their community, their school and the student athletes.”

Upon receiving the award, Coach Spina said that “it is his staff of assistant coaches and other support personnel that really should share this honor.”  He continued by saying, “I want to make sure they know how much I appreciate their efforts and hard work.”

Coach Spina will receive $1,000 “to benefit the school’s football program and he will be presented with a certificate from the Jets.”
