As one of the new incoming students here at Floral Park Memorial, I can say we are thrilled, nervous and even a little scared. The FPM community wanted to hear more about a typical new 7th grader experience, so we decided to interview a few of them.
The following questions were asked:
“How are you adjusting to the new schedule with different classes?”
“What’s the biggest change from elementary school that you’ve noticed?”
“How do you balance school work, sports, and extracurricular activities?”
Gemma Polan
- “I’m adjusting good. I have my classes memorized and I like all of them.”
- “Honestly the school lunch is very different. It’s a LOT better.”
- “I just set up a schedule. I have a planner and I keep everything organized.”
Anthony Green
- “I am adjusting by finding the quickest ways to class to get there on time.”
- “The biggest change is having many different teachers.”
- “By school or homework quickly after sports or chamber orchestra.”
Alexander Benetos
- “I’m adjusting well. Switching is getting easier.”
- “ I have 9 teachers.”
- “I do the homework later and set a schedule.”
Alex Glaser
- “It was difficult for me because it was hard to get form class to class on time.”
- “The biggest change is that the school is bigger and there is more diversity.”
- “ I balance school work with football. I go home and I do the work either at school or home.”
Matthew Martinez
- “Great I feel like it’s easy, it wasn’t hard for me.”
- “How big the school and sharing lunch with older grades.”
- “By setting alarms and a schedule.”
