FPM’s Cross Country Team Celebrates Many Successes
May 10, 2021
Despite the condensed season, the Floral Park cross country team had a phenomenal season with a number of students achieving new personal records. The season took place between March 1st and April 16th. Within this period, the team attended six meets, including the county championship. The girls team included Michelle Ashbahian, Julia Mills, Danielle Krapf, Catherine Macatangay, Riley Yunitis, Caralinn Becker, Olivia Battista, Emma Kosak, and Naeha Ambrose. Members of the boys team included Max Krapf, Jamari Blackwell, Matt Hyde, Barlin Singh, Amrit Singh and Brendan Tracy.
Overall, the team had a very eventful season, with many members breaking their own records more than once throughout the entirety of the season. The girls team earned the title of Division Champions, and had 4 girls earn All- County: Senior Michelle Ashbahian, Junior Julia Mills, 8th grader Caralinn Becker, and Sophomore Danielle Krapf. In addition to the four girls, Max Krapf, an 8th grader, placed 10th overall, earning All County as well. With many students still having a few years left of competing, it seems the Cross Country team will have a strong team for the upcoming years and is in for huge improvements and achieving many titles.
