Boy’s Basketball Loses a Heartbreaker

Boys+Basketball+Loses+a+Heartbreaker

Last Thursday, 2/29/2024 Floral Park Memorial’s boys Varsity Basketball team went up against Friends Academy. Tip off was at 6:00PM at Farmingdale College. The game started, and right from the start and it was turning out to be an extremely close game. At the end of the first quarter it was 10 to 7 with Friends Academy in the lead. The score was always changing, but it was always a close game. Shots were going up by Senior #23, Jim Driscoll, Senior #3, Nicholas Zachary and Senior #5, Ryan Conley, Floral Park’s team captain. Amazing defense was played by senior #4 Joshua Lewis. At half time, we were down by 2 and the score was 26-24. At the end of the 3rd quarter Floral Park was down 33-37.  The excitement of the crowd was at an all time high.  It was getting loud as there was one minute left, and a tie game of 50-50. Floral Park’s huge student section and supporters were tirelessly cheering on their team! After a long game with a lot of time outs, fouls and substitutions, there were 10 seconds left in the game and we were 3 points behind.  Suddenly,  FPM called a timeout. Friends Academy had played a tough defense, but we were able to get the ball back and shoot a three pointer. Unfortunately the shot missed, but it was clear that the FPM Boys Basketball team would come back even stronger next year!   The entire Floral Park Community is so proud of how far this team made it this season.
