World Vision is an organization that I have been supporting for the past three years. This organization is a great non-profit charity because you can see how your donation impacts others across the world. My family has sponsored a child through this organization, which means we provide the funds for him to buy school supplies and basic needs like food and clothing. It is inspiring to see a life transformed through this these efforts. World Vision also conducts clean water projects in African villages that do not have a clean water supply. Many girls cannot attend school because their responsibility in the family is to get water from a mud hole as far as six miles away. It takes them all day to travel there and back, and on the way home, they have to carry a 40 pound water jug. In addition, the water they retrieve is diseased. World Vision solves this problem by building water pumps and wells in the center of towns so it is more accessible. I ran a half marathon two years ago to raise money for these projects with my church. Our team raised over $15,000 for the clean water projects! I continue to support this organization and all the great work it is doing around the world.
