On January 8, Floral Park Memorial’s PALS (the group of students devoted to learning academics through life skills) classes attended the Rolling Thunder Bowling Tournament. The event took place at Herrill Lanes in New Hyde Park. In attendance were students from the classes of Mrs. Butts and Ms. Joyce. Throughout the event, each student could be found with a smile from ear to ear. Health and physical education teacher, Ms. Teemsma, said “everyone had an amazing time. It was a very enjoyable event for a wonderful group of young people. I was so proud to be a part of it.”

This was the third year of the event as students from 15 different school districts participated. The event was planned by Garden City District Athletic Director, Ms. Cerrone.

“When I was in high school, Ms. Cerrone was my health teacher and class advisor,” said social studies teacher Mr. Simone. “She was an incredibly caring teacher who was always looking for ways to help students. I am not surprised that she was involved in this type of event.”

Participation in this event is just another example of how the PALS program continues to thrive at Floral Park Memorial.
