For close to two decades, social studies teachers Mrs. White and Mrs. Francis, have invited Vietnam veterans to speak to their classes during their teaching units on the Cold War. It is an outstanding opportunity for students to listen to and ask questions of several heroic men who made enormous sacrifices for this country. Each year, the veterans have a profound impact on the students. This year, Mrs. White and Mrs. Francis, responding to the desires of their students, decided to coordinate with the Vietnam War Veterans Association of Nassau County to help collect toiletry items for homeless veterans in need. The students were very moved by these presentations. A special thank you to everyone who contributed to this outstanding effort to make a difference in the lives of those in need.
