You will be hard pressed to find a more spirited group of athletes than the ones on the girls’ soccer team at Floral Park Memorial. Even after a six-game losing streak knocked the Lady Knights out of the playoffs, they still gave a tremendous effort against the Frogs from Carle Place. Freshman Miya Reid scored the go-ahead goal as Floral Park handed Carle Place its only loss of the regular season, winning 5-4.

“It was crazy,” said junior lacrosse star Amanda Kozak. “We overcame the poor weather conditions to pull off an awesome upset.”

Reid scored two goals while Molly Devine, Kozak and Ashlee Samuel each added one goal in the stunning victory.

Even though Floral Park did not win enough games to extend its season, the hard work, passion and enthusiasm of the girls never waned.
