The New York Mets Disappoint in 2021
October 28, 2021
The New York Mets had high expectations for the upcoming season. Little did they know injuries would haunt them. They looked so good in the first 60 games then when they got to the 100 game mark they fell off and missed the postseason again.

The New York Mets went out and made a blockbuster trade that would make them World Series contenders getting a top-five shortstop in Francisco Lindor and an ace type pitcher in Carlos Carrasco. The Mets were also able to sign James McCann; they missed out on George Springer but they looked like a real contender for the NL East. The Mets fans are ready for an exciting year. Jacob deGrom, Noah Syndergaard, Carlos Carrasco and Marcus Stroman looked like a beautiful punch in the rotation along with guys like Pete Alonso, Dominic Smith, Michael Conforto, and Jeff McNeil to help out offensively. It was going to be a year to remember.

The New York Mets are playing the Philadelphia Phillies in game one of the regular season. The game was a New York Mets loss 5-3 but they showed promise especially Jacob deGrom. The dude was on a mission and he proved it this year.

The Mets were in first for ninety days but it snapped and now they were 4 back of first. So at the trade deadline the Mets traded for superstar shortstop Javy Baez. With the offense being bad they thought this would help. He went on to bat 0.303 with New York with Francisco Lindor, Jeff McNeil and many others struggling they needed Baez. Taijuan Walker was amazing in the first half but then when he was picked as an all star it went downhill posting a 4.78 ERA after the break. The Mets recent struggles also have to do with injuries. Jacob deGrom was on pace for a record breaking season, was out for the year. Many more guys were hurt and this started the series with 13 straight against the LA Dodgers and the Giants. The Mets would go 2-11 ruining their playoff hopes.

The New York Mets 2021 was sad. It looked so good for so long until August. Francisco Lindor was bad but it looks like the Mets will be back next year. Injuries was another reason why the season was sad. Hopefully Michael Conforto is back. It will be sad to see him leave. Well to next year Let’s go Mets.
