Gagandeep Kaur Named Class of 2022 Valedictorian


Gagandeep Kaur is proud to be selected, as the Valedictorian for the Class of 2022 at Floral Park Memorial High School. She is seen all over our campus as President of the Art Honor Society. Where she has helped to organize the Paint and Dip Night with World Language Honor Society last year. In her Senior year, she has been working on school beautification projects with the Culture Club. She enjoys helping students to embrace differences in all cultures and the changes in society. Gagandeep is also a member of the Ecology Club, where she has gone to Zack’s Bay to help with beach clean up detail and she also has helped with the construction of the FPM butterfly garden.

Outside of school, Gagandeep volunteers at Anna’s House, as a tutor, where she helps elementary school students with their homework. Additionally, she volunteers at her local gurdwara, where she helps younger students in reading and writing in Punjabi. As well as, tutoring her peers in mathematics. This fall she is working as a teacher aid at John Lewis Childs School helping kindergartners with school work. This summer she worked at the Floral Park Public Library as a page.
Her academic honors include the Brown Book Award,10th grade AP Scholar, and in 11th grade, she was recognized as an AP Scholar with Distinction. Her Art skills have also been recognized with a 2nd place finish in the General Federation of Women’s Club- New York Island-Metro District Honors in 10th grade and in 11th grade she improved to 1st place. Additionally, her art work has been displayed at the Heckscher Museum Art Exhibition.

In summary, Gagandeep is a National Art Honor Society, World Language Honor Society, Mathletes, National Honor Society, Ecology Club, and Culture Club Member. Her leadership in all these activities and her passion for tutoring others, has driven her to become the Valedictorian for the Class of 2002 at Floral Park Memorial High School.
