How did students keep up with the first two days of the NCAA’s March Madness before advances in technology?

Yes, it is that time of year again.  Students drain the battery power on their cell phones to keep up with the early scores of the men’s college basketball tournament.  On the first day of the tournament, they were already in for some big surprises as two number 14 seeds, Georgia St. and UAB stunned Baylor and Iowa State respectively.

Even with so many players leaving college after one season, the yearly March Madness tournament never fails to interest sports viewers throughout the country.  Casual viewers join in to complete brackets on websites like ESPN and Yahoo.  Many statisticians claim that it is more likely an individual will win the Powerball than pick a perfect bracket.

Most of the attention for this year’s tournament is focused on the University of Kentucky Wildcats, who went undefeated this season.  Until the champion is crowned, fans are sure to see many dramatic finishes this month.

And teachers do not have to worry about the finals interfering with school this year.  The championship game in Indianapolis will be played during the spring break.
