On November 16, tryouts started for the girls’ and boys’ varsity basketball teams at Floral Park Memorial. Tryouts typically last for three days before the final cuts are made. Both teams are coming off very successful seasons last year. The girls reached the Nassau County Class A semifinals before losing to eventual Long island Champion North Shore. The boys, as the 16th seed, made a remarkable playoff run to the County Championship game before losing to Valley Stream South. Coaches Boyle and Spina are both looking forward to another great season.Dylan Mattingly
