Last-Minute Change For 8th Graders

Class of 2019 replaces dance with pizza and movie night

The class of 2019 had a dance scheduled for Friday, December 12. But the eighth grade students who arrived to Floral Park Memorial on this evening were instead treated to a pizza/movie night.

Class advisors Ms. Cerulli and Ms. Canone said that the dance was canceled because not enough tickets were sold. Instead of canceling the entire evening, they decided to organize a different event that did not require as many participants.

As the students arrived, they signed in, and sat with their friends in the library. The two class advisors, along with some of the students in the class, served pizza and drinks.

“The pizza was delicious,” said Rachel Wayne.

After finishing the Italian cuisine, the students moved to the auditorium to watch the movie Elf. It appeared as if the entire audience was enjoying the film.

“Elf is a very funny movie,” said Tori Youngclause.

“This is hysterical,” exclaimed Grace Werner.

While some students would have preferred a dance, they still made the best of the situation. At the end of the evening, Jillian Burke was overheard saying, “The movie was really fun. I wish we could do this again.”

Just a nice ending – spending the night with friends, watching a funny movie and eating pizza – for a great evening.
